The epic tale of Yoshi rescuing baby Mario continues and this time it's in 3D! In this game, Yoshi, carrying baby Mario on his back, ventures into various lands and worlds to stop the baddies and most importantly, escape. Similar to Mario, games are level-based and you must defeat a previous level in order to continue forth. Furthermore, players will need to collect small stars, red coins and smiling flowers to earn medals that unlock Yoshi versions exclusive to the level such as Helicopter Yoshi that allows you to shoot at things in your way aand fly in the direction you tilt your 3DS. These items can be taken away from you faster than you got them, though. Did you really think it was that simple? I thought not, Getting hit causes baby Mario to fly up in the air. Baddies try to distract you, all the more hurting Ypshi and get in his way so that flying Shy Guys take him away & you have to restart. In addition, each second of Yoshi not carrying Mario removes one of the small stars that essentially symbolize his life. Luckily there are various ways to get more but this calls for more exploring & jumping into a ring of stars towards the end of the level which provides 10 more. I will not spoil much more but their is an importance in the color of the eggs Yoshi finds. Exploring is also the way you can collect all the red coins and flowers. There are hidden locations and question mark bubbles popped by eggs or even baddies that are helpful, providing stars but often times hidden. Note that if you lose a life, you have the options to restart the level or quit the game. Do note that restarting takes you back to the 10 you began with and the red coins and flowers you received before jumping into a ring of stars are deleted as it starts you from that point. I advise these rings are used cautiously. Aside from regular level bad guys, every 5 levels or so you have a castle level where after defeating the regular level, you defeat a boss while watching out for minions and of coarse Mario. This game has great graphics, it's witty, and encourages an adventurous spirit but it could get really challenging. I found myself restarted levels a lot just to get to the end let alone collecting all items to prove my worthiness. I still find myself struggling on little things and those boss levels drive me crazy but you will get better and that's fun, right? It is, I assure. I will definitely recommend this game and hope you enjoy.This game is excellent, if you are a fan of Mario titles like myself then you really need to pick up this game. It follows a similar style of platform game where you control a bunch of Yoshi (plural) who take it in turns to help carry baby Mario to find baby Luigi who has been taken by baby bowser! It is an enthralling game with unique graphics that I can only describe as "sketched" it looks brilliant and really adds a touch of magic to this game.You will control Yoshi in a number of ways including his well known glide and strain as I like to call it, gobble up baddies and turn them into eggs which you can throw to knock out further enemies or unlock many different secret paths throughout the game. I enjoy the use of pipes in this game just like with Mario and all the different items within the level to collect adds much replay value to the title.If like me you are a big Nintendo platformer fan who has just about tired out Mario run then add this to your collection on 3ds/xl/2d now, you will not be didsppointed!I love the art and sounds lvls are ok. I only made it past the first castle before putting it away .Yoshi new island ... what can i say.. its kinda too easy for me.. you get perks like infinite yoshie fly peddling if you die too many times in a row.Good game for kids.. i wanted to try yoshie island and this does it..An amazing game, fun and casual yet can be a challenge too depending on how you play. Amazingly catchy music, all unique level designs, and rather easy but amusing bossfights. A nice break away from the usual Mario games. I love this game, and how it utilizes all the tools/and pros of the 3DS so well, glad it made a Nintendo Select pick! 5/5 For this special price NEW, you have to get it....even if you're never into Mario or platformer games that much, what could go wrong at this low price???It's alright. Nothing bad I just thought I would enjoy it more or have more nostalgia for it. I got it for $20 as a nintendo select classic and thought why not. Played through 3 worlds- just got bored. I don't like the fancy '3DS feautre show off' mini games in the levels. They just felt gimmicky. Examples: tilt the 3ds around to navigate the stage, blow in the mic, use the 3D to move around obstacles.Game came in perfect, new condition. It's a revamp of the original Yoshi's Island that I still have a copy of. The game has some new cool features, as well as remaking all the great things about the original. I didn't get very far, as platformers start to bore me after a while, but it's a good game and I would recommend it to anyoneSaw this as one of the games my sister didn't have yet. Will be giving it to her for her birthday in a couple of weeks. I'm sure she will love it. She has about 30-35 games. Game was exactly as pictured and was in new condition. I will definitely order again if there is another game my sister wants.I love this game! I am glad to have this new version of it. It's still similar to the original, but there are a few changes. If you are a fan of the original, I feel you will still enjoy this version of the game, and if you've never played the original, you will enjoy this new Yoshi/Mario game.Works great, was used as they did not erase past account but in great conditionHad box.
