I almost want to say that to really appreciate this game, you need to have played the original GoldenEye for N64. In other words, I do have some bias because that was a pretty landmark fps game, and I found it a highlight during my college years.Jump ahead a decade and a half, and fps have come a long way, so this won't stand out like it used to.There are a lot of great fps games for the various systems, but this is the best by far for the Wii. There are some great customizable controls with the wiimote, which is the preferred method of choice by many expert users. However, it's not as confusing to customize as say on the game "Conduit", which is not as good as Goldeneye. It lets you control what you need. I purchased a classic controller pro to use for this game, and it's great, although as good of a controller as on the PS3, but it's cheap. The best players with the wiimote are better than the best with the classic controller. I can choose from a selection of various controller button options, but I can't customize each button. I wish I could, but I understand they are catering to people who want to get into the game quickly, and the options they have are some of the best, either left or right handed. The solo mission can be vary difficult when trying the harder levels. Very hard. And I can go back and retry missions, so playability is okay. But where the game really shines is in multiplayer. I haven't been this hooked on any kind of multiplayer game, and I think a large part of it is because you can earn experience points with each fight and raise your level higher. The higher you go, the more weapons and accessories there are that you can unlock, enhancing the fun factor. I find this factor singlehandedly the best thing they've done with Goldeneye. You can see your rankings with other players around the world. You can play with friends, groups, or just on your own. You can play with or against up to 8 people at a time, and the map selections are very good. Some subtleties--I like the fact that this game is about humans on a mission, with a storyline that is very familiar with the mainstream. I have no interest in humans fighting aliens or monstrous creatures. I take interest in weapons that are of the real world, and missions that make sense. This is just something that I can appreciate, as it bucks the trend.Overall, I highly recommend this game because of the multiplayer aspect, which lets you play continuously by moving up the ranks. That alone is worth its purchase. As far as controls go, I find the wiimote to not be as natural for me, and I use the classic controller pro. I wish the controller was a little bit more sensitive, but it does the job.
