Disney Princess: Enchanted Journey - Nintendo Wii Game for Kids | Magical Adventure & Storytelling | Perfect for Family Game Night & Birthday Gifts

My daughter loves itI put off buying this game for my daughter simply because it looked, well cheesy. So many of the Disney Princess items are just mass produced and lack any of the Disney "magic". In fact, I'm quite burned out on the Disney Princess craze, even though I adore Disney in general nd go to the parks several times a year. I also thought it was just some sort of dress up game and that was it. But I finally broke down and got it for my daughter's 4th birthday and what a surprise.This game is so wonderful! The graphics are rich and detailed, as good as any Disney film. There is none of the jagged pixelation or "stutters" of the graphics in some of the children's games we have for the Wii. The minute the game started, both my daughter and I got sucked right into it. My daughter played and I watched and helped when necessary. The gameplay is very intuitive and easy to figure out, but challenging enough that it's not boring.Instead of being thrown right into the action when the game starts, the game is like a movie or a storybook- a backstory is presented, and your character is brought through a magical castle as she is introduced to both the goal of the game and how to play the game. Yes, there is a "dress up" part at the very start of the game- and it's really lovely and well done. Gameplay is "filmed" from many angles so as your character moves through scenes, it almost feels as if you are there, with her.The "Enchanted Journey" itself is basically a quest to assist several of Disney's most beloved Princesses- Ariel, Snow White, Jasmine, and Cinderella. Your character is escorted into each of their "worlds" (which are richly illustrated, animated, and scored) and given small tasks to do in order to help the Princesses out. Almost all tasks in the game are completed by waving the Wii remote like a magic wand- there are several different motions, and each does a specific kind of magic.I have to admit, I'm not a fan of kid's games at all but I got sucked into this one instantly. It almost felt like being on a ride at Disney. The music, the colors, the animation... it's all really well done.No, it's not a long, time-consuming game. The tasks are simple. For each Princess, there are about three tasks to accomplish. For an older child, this won't take long. But for a little girl, it's perfect. There's enough to see and do in this game besides the gameplay that it makes the game well worth the money.If you are remotely on the fence about buying this for your Disney Princess fan, just do it.for some reason it doesn't connect the game to the controller... our sensor is brand new, and to be sure it wasn't the controller we put brand new batteries in it.. so not sure if it's the game or not, but my kids play the wii every day and have no problems with any other gamesUPDATE its definitely the game that has the issue and of course I cannot return it now.I buy a lot of Wii games based on what I think my 2 children will be able to do with it, they are 4 and 6.This game is great for them. The 6 year old can play this by herself without adult assistance which rates this game very high on my list. the 4 year old loves it, but requires some help since the movement around requires use of the toggle on the nunchuk, and that requires some dexterity she hasn't perfected yet.the only thing that gets them is that if it's being played without adult assistance, then sometimes the boggs can surround the character can trap it, and the kids get quickly upset that they're being trapped and attacked.There is no killing in this game, the characters just loose magic on a meter, and the boggs turn into butterflies, so it's pretty harmless.the length of game is ok, the 6 year old has now beaten the game, with some help, in about 4 hours.I would recommend for young girls, but just realize that some dexterity is required since it requires use of both hands plus the left thumb at the same time.UPDATE: My 6 year old can now beat the game by herself now without assistance in about 3 hours. Doesn't stop her, she's played it all the way through 3 times in the last week. She says it is still SO much fun, so it hasn't lost it's appeal. I am hoping that I can find another game that requires similar skill levels. Also, this game has a pretty detailed, verbally narrated story line that they like, so there isn't any required reading of tiny cramped font words for young kids.I got this for my three nieces (all between 5-6 yr olds). All three of them really like the princesses, and all of them have played through at least part of the game now. One of them LOVED it, picked up the movements very quickly, loved the story, the mini games, dressing the princess, etc. I don't think there is any part of this game she wasn't absolutely thrilled with. The other two...not so much. One found the movements tricky to remember and got frustrated and bored very easily. The other was terrified of the idea of the bogs (they are the 'bad guys' in this game) to the point that she flat out refused to play for a while.I had to explain that the bogs were just butterflies and couldn't hurt her character, even if she stood there and did nothing. (I checked to be sure, there is a bar that appears and loses color any time the bogs are around, but once it gets to the bottom, it just refills automatically and nothing happens to the players). She is enjoying it now, but get frustrated with some of the actions as well.One very important thing to note - you have to play ALL of the princesses before you can unlock Belle. When you come back, be sure to play Belle before you go up the stairs again - if you do not, you cannot go back in and play Belle later, unless you play the entire game again (we learned this the hard way).Very short game. It took my 6 years old dautgher around 2 hours to complete the whole game.There are princesses and a few very east puzzle.If you can get it for cheap, sure but full price, it doesn't worth it since it has no replay value.something for kids of all ages in this game. my four year old girl loves playing it. But there is also alot for the older kids.Did not work.My daughter loves it.sometimes little bit difficult for my 5-year old daughter but with my help she can manage it. The story is good and what's most important there are princesses :)
